Essential equipment for starting-up Pickleball!

If you're a school, club, leisure centre or even individual who is new to Pickleball, it’s important to understand what equipment you’ll need to get started! In this article, we'll explore essential equipment to embark on your pickleball journey and give some recommendations!
Pickleball Paddle
Your paddle is your primary piece of equipment and plays a pivotal role in your game. Here's what to consider when choosing the right paddle for you:
Material: Paddles can be made from various materials, including wood, composite, and graphite. Beginners often start with a composite or graphite paddle, as they provide a good balance of power and control. The wooden paddles are often good for school children!
Weight: Paddle weight affects your playing style. Lighter paddles offer greater maneuverability, while heavier paddles provide more power. Choose a weight that suits your playing preference.
Grip Size: Select a grip size that feels comfortable in your hand. Paddles come in various grip circumferences, so experiment to find the one that fits you best.

2. Pickleballs
Pickleballs are specialised balls designed for the game. They are lightweight and have small holes, which make them ideal for the slower-paced play at the net. The balls are split into indoor balls, which are lighter and have fewer (26) holes, and outdoor balls which are slightly heavier and normally have 40 holes. Our selection on site can be found here.
3. Net and Court
If you plan to play pickleball regularly, you may want to invest in a portable pickleball net and court lines. We have 4 different nets on our site, ranging from the affordable club net, to the professional standard PickleNet Deluxe! These nets can be set up quickly and easily, and are stored in bags. For a school or club, you could also look at some tape used for court markings.
